About the Task Force
The Cancer Foundation has enlisted the help of corporate and community leaders to help raise funds for the programming at the new Cancer Survivorship Centre.
This year’s fundraising goal of $1 million will help provide continued support for Cancer Survivorship Care programs at the Maplesoft Centre that will enhance quality of life for cancer patients and their families.
The Maplesoft Centre, Eastern Ontario’s first Cancer Survivorship Centre, has been designed to look and feel like a home, however its 10,000 sq.ft. of space serves as a day facility to accommodate a vast array of programs and services for local cancer patients, their families and caregivers. People like your neighbours, your coworkers, and perhaps even your own loved ones are welcome here, at no cost and without a doctor referral.
The Centre is open to all patients and their families in Ottawa and surrounding counties including the Outaouais – a total population of 1.5 million people!
In the first seven months of operations, the Centre has registered 800 members who benefit from individual cancer coaching and more that 35 programs and workshops presently being offered ranging from nutrition to the Wonders & Worries program; aimed at children whose parents have been diagnosed with cancer.
