The Cowan Foundation Donates $100,000 to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre

“At The Cowan Foundation, we believe it’s important for individuals and their family members in the Ottawa Region and beyond, to have access to centralized cancer services, information and programs in a positive and supportive environment,” explains Jason McCormick, Principal at Cowan Insurance Group.

If you haven’t visited the Cancer Survivorship Centre – we encourage you to see it.  When you walk in, you can tell the Centre has been created to provide an environment of supportive care for people with cancer and their families.  It is a place of encouragement; a place of information and education; and a place focused on independence and survival.

“Cancer touches everyone’s life in some way,” continues McCormick,” as a business in the Ottawa Region, we felt it was important to donate funds to support a program that will positively impact so many lives in our community. “

The Cowan Foundation (www.cowanfoundation.ca) is able to provide support in the communities where its employees and clients live and work due to the ongoing success of the Princeton Holdings group of companies including Cowan Insurance Group, Frank Cowan Company, The Guarantee Company of North America and Millennium CreditRisk Management. Together they provide insurance and risk management products and services for individuals, businesses, organizations and public entities as well as assist employers with their group benefits, retirement and health and disability management plans.

On October 21st, 2012, the Nordic Walk for Cancer Survivorship took place at the Maplesoft Centre in Ottawa. The Cowan Foundation participated by acting as the 3km Walk Sponsor and members of the Ottawa office volunteered their time to help run the sweat check at the event.

The Cowan Foundation is a wonderful partner and great supporter of the work we do at the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation. For more than 15 years, the Cancer Foundation has been raising money for cancer care that stays here in our community. With partners like Cowan, the Cancer Foundation invests funds in cancer research including clinical trials; state-of-the-art equipment like the CyberKnife and the da Vinci Surgical System; expansion of existing cancer facilities like the Irving Greenberg Family Cancer Centre and The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre. Please consider donating to the Cancer Foundation and improve cancer care in our community.
