Jamie's Cancer Hat-trick
Jamie Malizia
And The Primary Cancer Hat-trick

It’s hard to believe that it all began 10 years ago. In January 2000, my husband Jamie who had just turned 40, was diagnosed with a brain tumour. The day before surgery his surgery in March of that year, he was diagnosed with CML; a form of leukemia. His brain tumour turned out to be a grade 4 anaplastic astrocytoma. After 5 weeks of radiation throughout the summer months, he was then able to work on fighting the CML. He was featured as the Ottawa Citizen front page Cancer Survivor in January of 2003 highlighting his story of survival. But as it turned out, he was diagnosed 2 years later with Prostate cancer. Jamie has had a Primary Cancer Hat trick but he is still a survivor!
Our three children are now teenagers/young adults and I am thankful that those 10 years are over with. We are all so thankful for the wonderful doctors at the Ottawa Regional Cancer Center. We have kept our lives relatively normal and want other cancer patients to hear Jamie's story so they too will see a light at the end of the tunnel! He has been able to continue working in software sales, enjoy our children's sporting lives and enjoy the cottage life he loves so much. We are planning for a great next 10 years and living life to the fullest...
Sincerely,
Karen
