March is Nutrition Month and marks a little over our one-year anniversary offering a range of nutritional services called Grounded. Emily Fitzgerald helped develop these programs, alongside Shannon Bain, the VP of Marketing, in November of 2015.
Emily is a Registered Dietitian and the Nutrition Coach at the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation. Offering sensible and realistic guidance for your nutritional journey to educate, encourage, support, and empower you to make decisions that are best for you and your family.
She offers 1:1 Nutrition Coaching, and Nutrition Workshops to those interested in cancer-specific nutrition and general nutrition. There are also other services like Corporate Nutrition Coaching, and Family + Group nutrition coaching.
“Since day one, nutrition has been a passion of mine. Growing up, I was always interested in cooking, sports and healthy eating. When I discovered the role of the Registered Dietitian I was sold! I went on to complete my Master of Science in Foods and Nutrition at Western University. While studying, I completed placements in several chronic disease areas including diabetes, renal, cardiology and oncology. At a cancer center in Southwestern Ontario I discovered my true passion within dietetics. I was able to offer patients support to stay strong and get through some of the most difficult times of their lives. I will never forget when one of the cancer patients told me that, “nutrition saved his life.” This moment will stay with me forever.”
Living the Grounded Life is all about going back to the basics and Emily working with clients to help them incorporate nutrient-rich foods into their diet to improve their overall health and wellness.
To top it all off, by purchasing a Grounded program or service, 100% of the funds raised help support the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation – and provides complimentary Cancer Coaching to families in our community who are facing a cancer diagnosis.
