Feeling happier in spite of cancer, thanks to YOU

[Cancer, Cancer Coaching]
Imagine feeling lighter after completing your cancer treatments. Imagine feeling more in control, armed with new ideas and resources for moving forward. Imagine feeling happier. Feeling energized.
Wouldn’t that be a positive change?
And for the thirteen women who participated in the After the Bell: Nature Retreat, that’s exactly the opportunity they had – thanks in large part to YOUR support.
Over the course of 2 days, the women explored topics ranging from cancer-related brain fog to returning to work after cancer treatment, coping with the side effects of treatment, decision making, exercise, nutrition, and sexuality.
They also explored the emotional impact of cancer, including loss, fear of recurrence, changes in relationships, and making meaning out of the “new normal”.
And then they hiked together. They made art under a canopy of trees and did yoga under the stars. They made meals together, and bonded over a campfire.
“The women really gelled,” says Cancer Coach Bonney Elliott, who helped facilitate the retreat. “It’s amazing the conversations that happen organically when we’re hiking together, or hanging around a campfire. You could just see people relaxing. It’s about the power of play, of being in nature, and a little bit about being outside your comfort zone.”
A warm thank you to Nicole Laframboise and the team at Elements Luxury Tented Camp and Nature Spa for hosting the overnight retreat, providing participants with healthy and delicious meals, comfortable beds, and attentive hospitality.
After the Bell is a retreat for women who have completed cancer treatment. It is facilitated by the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation and is in part made possible by the generous support of our donors.
