We Are Here to help
We are here to help you take back control and feel more like yourself again.
We believe in treating the person, not the disease. Cancer does not define you and it should not define your care. From the moment you’re diagnosed, through your treatment and beyond, we are here to help you throughout your entire experience with cancer.
We are here to provide information. We believe in straight and open talk about cancer with you, partners, children, friends, and your healthcare team.
We are here to help you manage your stress, mood and emotions. To help you accept the tears, acknowledge the frustration, and handle the fear.
We are here to help you with the hard stuff, like telling your loved ones about your diagnosis, finding a clinical trial, or discovering how to face a difficult prognosis.
We are here to help you figure out the practical stuff, like navigating the healthcare system, planning for surviving, returning to work, and dealing with hospitals, specialists, insurance companies and employers.
But most of all, we will work side by side with you to help make improvements that are important to you. We will be with you every step of the way.
How Cancer Coaching Works
You will be paired with a personal Cancer Coach (healthcare professional with background in oncology), who you can connect with throughout your cancer journey. Your Cancer Coach will work with you to identify what’s most important to you in your care. Your Coach will be there along the way to provide support, education, practical guidance and navigation assistance, to help you meet your health and wellness goals and improve your quality of life. Your Cancer Coach will also work with you to anticipate and identify barriers to meeting your goals and brainstorm solutions that work for you.
Cancer Coaching is Accessible
At the Cancer Foundation, we understand that a cancer diagnosis affects the entire family. Cancer Coaching is available to the entire family complementary (in both French and English), so that no one has to go through cancer alone.
There is no medical referral required and very short wait times because when you need help we want to be there for you.
Cancer Coaching is offered at various locations throughout the city so that you can see a Cancer Coach close to home. Cancer Coaching is also offered virtually through secure online video for those days you just do not feel like you can make it in.
