The highly successful Bust-A-Move for breast health event has wrapped up after five years raising just over $1.5 million for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation.

The high-intensity, all day fitness event raised about $300,000 in its final year alone. John Ouelette, the Vice-President of Philanthropy for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation said the proceeds will go towards cancer coaching, clinical trials, research and post-diagnoses programs here in the capital region.

Team Old Ottawa South Ladies were the top fundraising team this year collecting more than $22,000.

“This is the third year we’ve participated. We started with a team of two but more and more people found out how great an event this is that they wanted to get involved,” said Kate Charland, the team’s captain.

More than 300 participants and volunteers packed the floor at the Ottawa Athletic Club Saturday dancing in the six-hour marathon workout. Jesse Palmer, a former Bachelor and NFL quarterback, was the guest appearance, taking participants through grueling workouts.
