March 13, 2020, Ottawa, ON – In accordance with current recommendations and Public Health information available in the City of Ottawa, the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation today announces the cancellation of Crush It for Cancer, Presented by Beyond Yoga, which had been set to occur on Saturday, March 28th, 2020.
In order to do all we can to protect the community’s health while continuing to support and provide the best cancer care in Eastern Ontario, the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation has made the decision to adjust certain programs, policies, procedures, and events in the coming weeks to reflect the seriousness of the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes changes to events that could place community members in close proximity to one another, like Crush It for Cancer.
Many of our clients, participants and volunteers may have pre-existing medical conditions that could put them at greater risk of experiencing complications should they fall ill, so we cannot confidently move forward with an event of Crush It for Cancer’s size and nature.
“We apologize deeply for being unable to run Crush It for Cancer this month, knowing how much hard work our participants, instructors, marketplace vendors, sponsors, volunteers and staff have already put into the event,” says Kelly MacNaull, Events Manager for the Cancer Foundation. “This is not only an event that raises much-needed funds for local cancer care; it is an inspirational day of community support and teamwork that is very close to some participants’ hearts. We wish everyone involved in the event the very best and are extremely appreciative of your ongoing support.”
Please know we will find another way to celebrate and recognize everything our participants, volunteers, instructors, and vendors have given to this event. We will share our plans with participants and the public as we learn more.
We apologize for the inconvenience and are so very grateful for your understanding.
