Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation Welcomes Michael Maidment as New President & CEO

September 2 / 2020

The Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Michael Maidment as President & CEO of the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation.

Michael has served the Ottawa community for the past seven years as CEO of the Ottawa Food Bank, and previously as Director of Public Relations and Development of the Salvation Army for the National Capital, Kingston, Quinte and Eastern Ontario regions. He will officially begin his role with the Cancer Foundation in mid-September.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to join such an important organization in our community,” Michael says. “From family and loved ones, to friends and work colleagues, cancer has impacted all of our lives. My hope is to grow the Cancer Foundation’s support of lifesaving research and the essential programs that support cancer patients and their families.”

“We are incredibly fortunate to have someone with Michael’s unique skills, expertise, and passion for this community joining us to lead the team at the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation,” adds Carl Marcotte, Chair of the Cancer Foundation’s Board of Directors. “As we celebrate the Cancer Foundation’s 25th anniversary this year and set new, ambitious goals for the future, we know Michael will bring new strategies and a fresh perspective to our mission to increase access to person-centered cancer care here in the Ottawa Region. Michael has a strong understanding of how important it is to invest in our community’s health and wellbeing, and we are so pleased to welcome him to the role of President & CEO.”

The Cancer Foundation’s Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and many stakeholders look forward to having Michael’s leadership as they continue their work to increase cancer survivorship in the Ottawa Region. Over the past 25 years, the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation has worked alongside local donors and supporters to fund incredible investments in local cancer care, having granted over $42 million to local research projects and cancer clinical trials, and over $13 million to Cancer Coaching services. The Cancer Foundation also opened Canada’s first ever Cancer Survivorship Centre in 2011, and has since expanded Cancer Coaching services to serve communities across Eastern Ontario.
